How It Works (Working Principle)

The Scienticy IR sensor module operates on the principle of Infrared Reflection. The transmitter LED emits an infrared signal at a specific frequency. When an obstacle enters the detection range, the IR light bounces back and is captured by the receiver photodiode. The LM393 IC then processes this signal, compares it with the threshold set via the potentiometer, and provides a LOW (0V) output on the signal pin to indicate an obstacle, while keeping it HIGH (VCC) when the path is clear.

Pin Configuration

    1. VCC: Connect to 3.3V – 5V External Power Source.
    2. GND: Connect to External Ground.
    3. OUT: Digital Output Pin (Connects to Arduino/MCU Digital I/O).

Here are the Short FAQs for your Scienticy IR Sensor module :

1. How to change the range?
Turn the onboard potentiometer clockwise to increase distance (2cm–30cm) and counter-clockwise to decrease it.
2. What is the output signal?
It provides a Digital signal: LOW (0V) when an object is detected and HIGH (VCC) when the path is clear.
3. Is it compatible with my board?
Yes, it works with any 3.3V to 5V controller & Relay module, including Arduino, Raspberry Pi, ESP32, and ESP8266.
4. Can it work in sunlight?
It is best for indoor use. Direct sunlight can interfere with the infrared light and cause false triggers.
5. Does it detect all colors?
It works best on white/light surfaces. Dark or black surfaces absorb IR light and will reduce the detection range.

Popular Applications of the Scienticy IR Sensor module:

  1. Robotics: Obstacle-avoiding robots and line-following smart cars.
  2. Industrial Automation: Object counting on conveyor belts.
  3. Home Automation: Touchless switches and smart doorway alerts.
  4. Security: Proximity alarms and perimeter monitoring.
